Joys of Birth Doulas Support You.

Hanna Turner
Founder of Joys of Birth
Hello and welcome to our page! Before you get to know each of the doulas, I would love to share the story of how Joys of Birth came to be.
I founded this group in 2022 after discovering a passion for childbirth education and supporting women during one of the most significant moments of their lives.
With the birth of my first child, I felt as though I had planned well, but in hindsight, I had no idea what I was about to walk through. I declined having a doula because I didn’t fully understand their role or the value of the investment. After leaving my first birth feeling like it had simply happened to me, rather than feeling like an active participant, I knew I wanted things to be different.
That realization led me down a path of research, training, and real-life experiences that shaped the vision and dream behind Joys of Birth. My mission is to provide unmatched support in every birth, so that each mother leaves her experience feeling empowered—like she was an active participant, not just along for the ride.
As our team has grown, that mission has remained the same. I have handpicked each doula on our team because of both their head and heart knowledge of birth, their compassion, and their shared commitment to this mission—to see better birth outcomes and provide meaningful support for parents as they experience the joys of birth.

Birth + Postpartum Doula
Ever since witnessing my sisters give birth when I was 16, I have been fascinated by pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum season. After getting married, I pursued my passion for birth work by becoming a doula and serving as a midwife assistant.
After welcoming my own three babies, I paused birth work to focus on my growing family, and over the past three years I’ve loved returning to support women during one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives. I enjoy practicing Spinning Babies techniques with my clients, educating families about postpartum recovery and pelvic floor care, and walking alongside mothers as they prepare for and adjust to life with their new sweet baby. It is an honor to support and encourage women as they step into motherhood.

Birth + Postpartum Doula
I have a deep love for serving mothers during the vulnerable and transformative seasons of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Hearing my mother’s traumatic birth experiences, along with witnessing the gaps in care for new mothers throughout my childhood, stirred a desire in me to be part of mending that gap.
After the birth of my first baby in 2023, I began training through the Madriella Network. In 2025, I welcomed my second baby at home, an experience that further deepened my conviction and calling to this work. I continue to further my understanding of holistic women’s health and the vital role it plays in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. It would be a joy to serve as an encouragement, a voice of truth, and a sister to you as you welcome your sweet little one into the world and step into this new role.

Jessica Chen
Birth + Postpartum Doula
I have been immersed in the pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and breastfeeding world since preparing for the birth of my first son at a birth center in 2021. My education and love for birth work deepened through my experience of having my twin sons at home in 2024. After receiving incredible support, I knew I wanted to serve pregnant women and their families as a doula. I received my Madriella doula certification and immediately began taking clients.
I love educating and supporting women through prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum, and breastfeeding, as I know firsthand how vital the right support is in every season of motherhood.

Birth Doula
I truly love supporting mothers as they pursue the birth of their dreams, and I carry a deep passion for walking alongside them with care, respect, and intention. Having given birth three times myself, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for the individuality of every labor and delivery. Those personal experiences continue to shape me and fuel my desire to keep learning and growing so I can better serve each family I support.
For the past four years, I’ve had the honor of working as a DONA trained doula, supporting mothers through a wide range of birth experiences. I’ve been present for many different types of labor and delivery, sharing in both the challenges and the joys. I have cried with mothers in moments of vulnerability and rejoiced with them in moments of strength and triumph, and every birth I attend deepens my commitment to this sacred work.
